This eclipse is exactly conjunct Chiron and squaring Ceres and Pluto's north node. This cardinal cross is a major initiation, and it is up to each one of us to notice our instinctual reactions and furthermore, responses to this raw exposure of personal and collective wounds. Wound = trauma.
For better or for worse, astrologers are known for repeatedly professing how intense the current times are. Truthfully, there are always dynamic tensions at play, that is the nature of the zodiac. Evolutionary astrologers like myself seek to understand these dynamics tensions to use it as leverage for soul growth. What makes this eclipse stand out as one for the history books is that pioneers are making new discoveries about trauma and various healing modalities. Wounded healers around the globe are being initiated into carrying the torch of trauma healing into uncharted territory. Over the next years, we will see these wounded healers rise from their metaphorical graves to offer leading edge trauma healing services. For now, they are licking their wounds and healing themselves first.
An essential understanding of this eclipse is depicted in my art showcased here:
We see a woman holding her inner child standing in the window of her tower/refuge. She is also holding a weapon and is alert to any threats approaching her refuge. There are flowers against the stone wall. What does this mean? Generally, healing relational trauma includes:
- taking refuge, having a safe enough space to heal.
- enforcing boundaries to evoke self-protection.
- acknowledgement of hyper-vigilance and its necessary role in human biology.
- taking self-responsibility to work on the inner parent and inner child relationship.
- noticing the tensions between inner conflict/peace (between the various parts of the self) and outer conflict/peace with others. There can't be true peace when there's a war inside.
- judging when, where and how to use appropriate self-defense as one's empowerment (symbolized by the weapon).
